VW reveal a new hardcore version of the Golf GTI Clubsports based on the new 8th Golf GTI generation. The new Golf GTI Clubsport handles even more neutrally and precisely than the classic Golf GTI VW claims.

Thanks to the addition of the new Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which will help prevent understeer to provide the driver with a more fun and controlled drive.

The new Vehicle Dynamics Manager integrates control of the electronic differential locks (XDS) and the lateral dynamics components of the optional adaptive chassis control DCC including the electromechanical front-axle locking differential.

Exterior Design

It is very hard to not notice the new aggressive look of this new GTI Clubsport, the lower part of the front bumpers gets a bit more open for an improved cooling of the radiator and an increase of aerodynamics covered with an honeycomb grille, two part roof spoiler at the back to increase downforce, new dual-oval exhaust tailpipes  .

To even give it a sportier look and great performance the new GTI Clubsport is lowered to 10 millimetres and fitted with wider side sills. Coming with a set of standard 18-inch alloy wheels.

Interior

Similar to the standard Golf GTI, the GTI Clubsport retains the same interior including premium sport seats in ArtVelours, which even provide a good support when cornering at high speed, plus a sports steering wheel with perforated leather grip zones.

Drivetrain and Performance

With VW aim to an improve driving dynamics, the new Golf GTI Clubsport is packed with an even more powerful Turbocharged engine under its bonnet the (EA888 evo4). A 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an outstanding output power of 221 kW (300 HP) and 400 Nm of torque. With the power delivered to the front wheels through a seven- speed dual-clutch transmission.

The new Golf GTI Clubsport manages a sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 5,9 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h.

Unfortunately it is sad to know that there will be no Golf GTI Clubsport for the South African Market, it is only available for the European fuel emission levels.
