Maserati makes a huge comeback in the super sports car scene after what almost feels like a decade with the all new MC20. The new Maserati “MC20” which stands for (MC for Maserati Corse and 20 for 2020, the year of its world première and the start of the Brand’s new Era).
Powertrain
The new Mid-engine is powered by the new a powerful Nettuno Twin Turbocharged V6 engine which delivers an output power of 469 kW/630 Horsepower @ 7500 rpm mated to an 8-speed Dual clutch Transmission with 730 Nm of torque @ 3000 – 5500 rpm. Reaching the top speed of 325 km/h and a quick acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
Exterior and Design
Designed for high performance, The MC20 combines sportiness and luxury in the unique Maserati style. Lightweight monocoque body made of a carbon fibre and quality materials that adds up to 1.500 kg (kerb weight) which gives the MC20 the best in class in weight/power ratio, at just 2.33 kg/hp.
Using the MC12 as visual and conceptual reference the new MC20 adopts the meshed grille on the lower part of the front bumper with the Maserati logo on it, and side vents for brakes cooling. LED headlights up top extending to the fenders, Front luggage compartment of only 50L capacity.
Equipped with Butterfly style doors not only for beauty but also function, ergonomically designed to enable an easier access to and from the cabin. The body of the car looks smooth with a sleek line flowing on its side with side air inlets which helps the air flow to the engine.
Rear vented windscreen, with a rear luggage compartment of 100L capacity, a discreet rear ducktail spoiler that improves downforce, horizontal LED taillights, dual exhaust tips under the license plate, and a large carbon fiber diffuser to complete the rear of the car.
The MC20 is also designed to enable coupé and convertible versions and for full electric power.
The Maserati MC20 comes in six new colours: Bianco Audace, Giallo Genio, Rosso Vincente, Blu Infinito, Nero Enigma and Grigio Mistero.
Interior
Jumping into the MC20, the cockpit and components has been designed to be completely driver oriented and minimally distracting. Two 10-inch screens: one for the cockpit and the other for the Maserati Multimedia System (MIA).
The centre console is made of carbon fibre-clad, fitted with just a few features: the wireless smartphone charger, the driving mode selector (GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa and a fifth, ESC Off, which deactivates the control functions), two speed selection buttons, the power window controls, the Multimedia System controls, and a handy storage compartment underneath the armrest.
All the other controls are on the steering wheel, with the ignition button on the left and the launch control on the right.
The new MC20 will be connected at all times with the Maserati Connect program. The full range of services includes connected navigation, Alexa and Wifi Hotspot and can also be managed through the Maserati Connect smartphone or smartwatch App.
