Tata Motors is officially back in South Africa, bringing with it four new models – including the exciting Tata Punch, a compact SUV designed for urban adventurers who want style, safety, and practicality in one smart package.
A Global Success Story Arrives Locally
Launched internationally in 2021, the Punch was crowned India’s best-selling car in 2024. Now, it’s ready to make waves in South Africa, offering the versatility of a big SUV in a smaller, city-friendly body.

Exterior and Design
Inspired by its bigger brother, the Tata Harrier, the Punch combines sporty looks with rugged appeal. Key highlights include:
• Bold front design with projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and Tata’s signature chrome “humanity line” grille.
• Protective body cladding for extra durability and a rugged stance.
• Stylish roof rails, shark fin antenna, and LED taillights for a modern touch.
• Multiple body colours with a dual-tone roof option for extra flair.
While the SUV-like ride is assured, thanks to its 187mm of ground clearance.
Interior and Tech
Inside, the Punch feels far larger than its compact footprint suggests. The cabin is both practical and kitted with premium features, featuring a choice of either a 7” or 10.25” infotainment screen compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Punch also boasts a start-up engine button, automatic climate control, wireless charging, cruise control, and a sunroof (depending on model).
With practicality in mind, the Punch’s boot space is rated at 366L and also features a cooled glove box (on select models).

Powertrain and Performance
Under the bonnet, all Tata Punch models feature a 1.2L Revotron three-cylinder engine producing 65kW and 115Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) with two driving modes (Eco & City).
In terms of handling, all models will feature McPherson strut suspension up front and semi-independent twist beam rear suspension.
