Renault South Africa has officially reintroduced the Renault Trafic Passenger to the local market, bringing back one of the brand’s most recognised nameplates after an absence of almost two decades.
The versatile people mover has been designed to cater for large families, shuttle operators and businesses looking for a spacious and practical transport solution. Its arrival also strengthens Renault’s local passenger and light commercial vehicle lineup as part of the brand’s continued product expansion strategy.

What is new?
The latest Trafic adopts Renault’s current design language with a more modern appearance than its predecessor.
Exterior highlights include:
- Pure Vision C-shaped LED headlights
- Updated Renault diamond badge
- 16-inch alloy wheels

Spacious cabin with modern technology
The Renault Trafic Passenger seats up to nine occupants and places a strong emphasis on comfort and connectivity.
Inside, buyers are greeted by an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and wireless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Depending on the specification level, the Trafic can also be equipped with a wireless charging pad, heated driver’s seat and premium upholstery.
Storage is another highlight, with up to 84.2 litres of storage compartments spread throughout the cabin. The modular seating arrangement also allows owners to prioritise either passenger space or luggage capacity depending on their needs.

Flexible enough for work and family
One of the Trafic Passenger’s biggest strengths is its adaptability.
The configurable interior allows multiple seating layouts, while maximum cargo capacity grows to an impressive 6,000 litres when required. This makes it equally suitable as a family people mover, executive shuttle or commercial transport vehicle.
Renault has also made a variety of accessories available, including:
- Roof bars
- Roof boxes
- Side steps
- Tow bar options
- Illuminated door sills

Powertrain
The new Renault Traffic Passenger comes powered by the trusted 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission producing 125kW & 380Nm of torque.
Safety
The Trafic Passenger comes equipped with a comprehensive list of safety features as standard, including:
- Six airbags
- Rear parking sensors
- Rear-view camera
- Tyre pressure monitoring system
Higher-specification models add 360-degree parking sensors to make manoeuvring easier in tight spaces.
The vehicle also forms part of Renault’s global Human First Programme, which focuses on improving road safety through vehicle technology and driver assistance systems.
