Fiat just unveiled the new 500X line-up.The new comer has received a substantial amounts of upgrades both on the outside and inside, as well as a new variant addition to the line-up includes a soft top convertible derivative called “500X Sport EST” which stands for (Extended Soft Top) with the aim to keep the popular 500X relevant to the current competitive crossover/suv segment.
The new 500X shares its underpinning with its stellantis cousin, the Jeep Renegade.
Buyers can choose between the 3 available variants on sale, which includes 500X Cross, 500X Sport and the 500X Sport EST. All powered by the same powertrain.
Exterior
The new Fiat 500X range still retains the iconic bold and stylish looks with new refreshed bits to set the 3 variants apparts from each other
All models are kitted with LED headlights and taillights, as well as LED fog-lamps and DRLs
The 500X Cross rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, with black painted side mirror caps and roof rails, while both the 500X Sport and 500X Sport EST benefits of 19-inch ally wheels with paint matched wheel arches , side skirt, sport badge and chrome exhaust tips
While the range topping Fiat 500x EST rides on 19” inch alloy wheels, both the entry level 500x and mid level 500x Sport rides on 18”alloy wheels
Interior
Stylish as the exterior, the interior of the Fiat 500x also received a number of changes such as, the newly designed dashboard which boast a 7” touchscreen infotainment , boasting a built in navigation system. The system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The cabin is also little with a leather-wrapped steering wheel along with a part cloth and leather upholstery throughout. The 500X Sport boasts a titanium style trims as well as 3.5” TFT color instrument cluster
The new Fiat 500x EST model features a one touch button which alloys its soft top convertible roof to easily open and close (15sec) at speeds of up to 100km/h
Performance
Powering the new fiat 500x is a 1.4L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, developing 103kW and 230Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six speed DDCT automatic transmission.
Fiat hasn’t confirmed any manual transmission variants for the south African market.
Fiat also claims that the new 500x can achieve an average fuel consumption of 5.7L/100km
Tech and Safety
On the safety front, the cabin is kitted with 6 airbags across the range, along with ABS, ESC as well as hill hold assist.
Other safety features include lane keep assist, reverse parking camera with rear parking sensors, traffic signs recognition
