Isuzu South Africa has unveiled the new 2025 MU-X, a versatile SUV that combines adventure with luxury. This latest iteration amplifies its already impressive attributes, featuring stylish exterior design upgrades, advanced technology, and enhanced safety features. Excitingly, the introduction of the exclusive new ONYX XT model promises an elevated experience for discerning buyers.

Striking Exterior Revamp
The exterior design of the MY25 MU-X showcases a bold aesthetic that reinforces its status in the liesure 4×4 SUV segment.
The all-new front end of the MU-X, featuring a redesigned bumper, stylish grille, updated ISUZU badge, and a bold headlamp cluster. The LED headlamps boast bi-beam technology, LED daytime running lights, and repositioned fog lamps for improved visibility and a sleek, modern look.
At the back, the MU-X showcases a refreshed bumper, a new tailgate design, a mid-level spoiler, and updated badging. The eye-catching combination LED taillights are connected by a unique tailgate garnish, enhancing the sporty appeal of the vehicle. New Wheel Options Robust 18-inch alloy wheels for standard models and 20-inch wheels for the ONYX XT add to the vehicle’s sporty appeal, complemented by two new color options: Eiger Grey Metallic and Biarritz Blue.
Inside, the dashboard has been redesigned, featuring new interior colors for the doors and armrests, plus updated leather seat patterns for a more luxurious feel.
The infotainment system now boasts a high-resolution nine-inch display in a sleek piano black finish, complete with two rotary dials and five touch-sensitive buttons. It includes standard features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with connectivity options available via USB or Bluetooth.
The LS models still have an analog reversing camera, while the LSE and ONYX XT now come with a digital 360-degree Surround View Monitor. This new feature greatly improves visibility with four cameras located at the front, rear, and side mirrors, giving you a full view of your surroundings. It’s especially helpful for navigating city streets, parking in tight spaces, and handling off-road challenges.
Improved Convenience and Safety Features
The MU-X range boasts practical upgrades to enhance daily usability:
A new custom welcome feature, the vehicle illuminates lights upon unlocking, making it convenient for accessing the vehicle in the dark. The suspension system has now received larger diameter shock absorbers to improve ride quality on various terrains.
The Exclusive ONYX XT Model
The stunning ONYX XT takes luxury to new heights, ideal for buyers who value uniqueness. This new flagship model features special design elements: Distinctive Styling, it stands out with its Gloss black accents, exclusive badging, and bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels set the ONYX XT apart. Inside, the ONYX XT boasts premium leather seating with red stitching, ambient lighting, and an upgraded infotainment system with additional USB Type-C ports for rear passengers.
Powertrains and Performance
The MU-X offers two robust and efficient turbodiesel engines to cater to diverse driving preferences, starting with the 3.0L engine, available in LS, LSE, and ONYX XT models, with a power output of 140 kW and 450 Nm of torque. followed by the most popular 1.9L engine, Ideal for those prioritizing fuel efficiency, this engine offers 110 kW and 350 Nm of torque, with a cllaimed fuel cincumption of 7.0 L/100 km, available in the entry-level LS model.
Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission for smooth and reliable driving. The 3.0-litre variant comes in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, making it versatile for any kind of adventure.
The 2025 ISUZU MU-X continues to set the standard in the SUV segment, delivering a perfect blend of luxury, performance, and off-road capability. The new facelift sure puts it on par with the competition, such as the Toyota Fortuner GR and the Ford Everest Platinum.
